Interviews
We get it, interviews can be nerve wracking, but don’t worry, they can be a great experience too and with the below tips, we’re sure you’ll smash your interview with us.
- Preparation, preparation, preparation
You can give yourself the best chance simply by being prepared. Be sure to read up on Abri and familiarise yourself with the job description as well as our Values & Behaviours. Have a think about times you’ve really embodied these Values & Behaviours that you could tell us about, we’d love to hear about them in your interview.
- Be sure to illustrate your point
The best way to really get your point across is to use examples. We’ll have read your application, but it’s best not to assume we have any prior knowledge of the examples you’re describing or experiences you may have. By choosing really relevant scenarios to tell us about and describing everything from the ground-up, your interviewers will have a full understanding of your experience and what you can bring to Abri.
- Make your answers shine with ‘STAR’
We’re sure you’ve got loads of great experience and knowledge you want to tell us about, and we want to hear all about it! The best way to get all that off your chest is to use the STAR technique to answer questions. When giving an example, structure your answer by going through the Situation, Task, Action and Results.
This will be a really easy way for your interviewers to understand the scenario you were faced with, what, how and why you did it and what the outcome was .
- Ask us questions too!
Interviews are a two-way street and we don’t want you doing all the talking. Have you got questions about the role or what it’s like working at Abri? Then just ask!
- Remember, we’re on your side
If we’ve invited you for an interview, it means we think you can do the job.
We want you to feel relaxed, enjoy your interview and be able to present the best version of you. We’re not out to ask trick questions or catch anyone out, we want to have friendly and open conversations about you and your experience, and your interviewers will be rooting for you all the way.
Onboarding
If you’re successful, the hiring manager will give you a call and will let you know the good news and will discuss the T&Cs and the start date. Once that’s confirmed, our HR team will send you your contract and new starter paperwork for you to complete and return digitally.
All our offers are subject to the usual checks; references, right to work in the UK checks etc. Depending on the role, we might need to check your driving license or do a DBS check, but we’ll let you know what’s needed in your contract.
