What we're about
We’re a passionate bunch. We think we can make a real difference. Homelessness, poverty, inequality, a lack of affordable housing. They’re all linked. They’re issues that affect so many, young and old alike. And we don’t think that’s right. We want to give people the chance to dream big and be who they want to be. Homes are at the heart of everybody’s lives. And we exist to help make good homes, and good lives a reality for everyone.
Every person has an important role to play. Whether you work out and about keeping our communities spick and span or you’re in the development team making sure our new homes are the best they can be.
Who are we looking for?
We’ve all got different backgrounds, strengths and experiences. But we share the same values. It’s these shared values that bring us together as one team. Simple really. You can read about them here.
If you share our values and want to make a real difference in the world, you’re on to a winner.
How we work
We’re pretty proud of our offices. Forget drab, dull and boring. We’re all about inspirational spaces to meet up and discuss ideas with the team.
But no matter how fab we think they are, there’s no requirement for you to use them all day every day. We don’t think you have to be sat at a desk all day to be productive.
Flexible, agile and remote working is fine with us. Some of us work from home more than others. Some of us prefer the office. Some of us have family commitments, so we work around these.
So long as high-quality work and getting the job done is at the top of your list, we don’t care how you do it.
We do have to mention that sometimes you’ll need to go into an office. (And if you’re in our trades team it’s quite tricky to fix a leaky shower from home). But the takeaway here is flexibility is king (and queen).
Building your career
Everyone plays an important part in keeping us at the top of our game. And we’re always looking ways to improve our organisation. That’s not possible without having the best people working for us.
Want to get your geek on? We’re down for that. Professional qualifications, check. Internal apprenticeships, check. Personal development plans, check. We’ve got it, if you want it.
Internal promotions happen on the regular too. And it doesn’t just have to be a step up.
If you ever want to step sideways and try something new, we say go for it.
Lots of our colleagues undertake internal apprenticeships. They help people to develop and progress in their careers. Or even take a new direction. All while remaining on your existing salary.
Your development and wellbeing are our top priority
And when you join the team, you’ll have regular conversations with your manager to talk about your career progression, how you’re feeling and how we can support you, and you’ll also set some clear objectives too.
We’re a passionate bunch. So you’ll have a Personal Development Plan in place. This is so you can work towards your goals and something you’d like to reach for.
To support your growth, we have an industry-leading learning system in place, which allows you to learn where you want and when you want with thousands of great materials for you to choose from.
And it doesn’t just stop there. Our in-house Learning and Development team design and deliver live training sessions on a whole range of different and really interesting subjects. Bringing us classes on meditation, how to reduce stress and anxiety, mindfulness, fitness and lots more!
Joining Abri is just the beginning. You can develop in your current role, further your career at Abri or even train in a different area of the business completely by taking part in an internal or external apprenticeship.
We’ve also partnered with other housing associations to create specific leadership pathways for the BAME community, and our Housing Professional of the Future programme makes sure each colleague is a qualified Abri housing professional.

A bit about them…
Since 1995, the LPI has consulted with, evaluated, and mentored thousands of departments world-wide to help them build and deliver notable performance improvement. This is done through the LPI’s ‘Performance Through Learning’ (PTL) programme.
Departments that gain LPI accreditations through the programme, have a clear roadmap that builds their capability and adapts their strategy for success. They demonstrate a strong customer value and are passionate and committed to developing their staff, their training, and their performance. Accreditation is an absolute guarantee of quality and organisations that achieve it are unreservedly recommended by the LPI.
