Starting from a strong position to deliver new homes and create thriving communities
In November 2019 Radian and Yarlington became one organisation and we’re now one of the largest housing associations in the south of England.
We’ve already achieved great things together, from completing 850 homes to supporting 500 people into employment. And as the lead partner of Wayfarer – a collective of 17 partners, including local authorities and housing providers – we completed 1,024 homes together.
We’re ahead of our build target, putting us in a good position to deliver 1,000 new homes each year. We already have 2,700 homes under construction or will be in the near future and we’re going to be embracing new technology to do it. We’re focused on fulfilling our objective for growth and our acquisition of 612 homes in Dorset and Hampshire, from LiveWest, is a great example of this.
As well as building great new homes, safety for customers is a top priority for us. In the past 12 months we’ve invested in fire safety improvements which includes £10.1m to remove defective cladding on our high-rise buildings.
But building homes isn’t all we do. Creating thriving communities is important too. We made good progress on our community investment strategy this year, developing a plan to tackle inequalities in areas where we know direct support is required.
In the next five years our customers will be encouraged to take the lead in driving positive change in their area as we focus on health and wellbeing, employment and community empowerment.
Gary Orr, our Chief Executive, said:
“As custodians of around 40,000 homes and associated assets, we are proud to be helping to bring an end to the housing and affordability crisis.
“Additionally, in the last financial year the government had the confidence to entrust us with the Help to Buy contract for South of England.
“Delivering great customer service and creating a great place to work means putting the voice of our customers and colleagues at the heart of our organisation. During the year, we carried out the largest ever customer and colleague consultation, with thousands of responses on our strategic priorities and our new customer charter.
“As a result, we are confident that our strategy truly reflects the priorities of both our customers and our colleagues who deliver our services to them.
“As we move forward, we will continue to be bold with our ambition for both our organisation and the wider sector.”
As one organisation we have retained our top rating with the Regulator for Social Housing and an A3 stable credit rating with Moody’s. In simpler terms, this means we’re in a good position to help communities recover from COVID-19.
We’re here to create communities and empower lives.
