Abri has secured an additional £36.7 million in grant funding from Homes England, the government’s housing and delivery agency, to support the delivery of 280 new affordable homes by March 2029. The funding comes through the £2 billion additional funding programme, part of the Affordable Homes Programme 2021–2026.
The additional funding builds on Abri’s existing £264 million Strategic Partnership with Homes England, which is enabling the delivery of 2,940 homes across the South of England by March 2028. The programme includes Abri’s flagship regeneration scheme at Sawyers Close in Windsor, where construction is now underway to deliver over 400 new homes.
Abri has already made strong progress under the current Affordable Homes Programme, with 2,643 homes started and more than 900 completed to date.
Jo Makinson, Chief Investment Officer at Abri, said:
“Strong partnerships are at the heart of delivering homes at pace, and our work with Homes England is a great example of what’s possible when we collaborate with purpose. We look forward to the prospectus for the social and affordable homes programme and to continuing to work creatively to find ways to do more, because we know that by working together, we can unlock opportunities to build the homes our communities need."
Sally Ingham, Development Director at Abri, added:
“We’re proud of the progress we’ve made under the current Affordable Homes Programme, delivering homes that help people and communities thrive. This additional funding means we can accelerate that momentum by bringing forward more affordable, high-quality homes that make a lasting difference.”
Abri has a commitment to building 10,000 new homes by 2030, supported by a development programme exceeding £1.1 billion to date. Over the ten-year period, a total investment of £2.5 billion will be made to reach this goal.
