We’re continuing to support the Embedding Community Response Clewer and Dedoworth project, holding monthly food network and physical environment meetings. And everyone is welcome to join us to discuss current issues in the community and how we can all work together to support each other.
The Food Network group
The Food Network group is an informal online meeting where we discuss challenges that have been recognised and how we can look at projects or ideas that you want to help this.
For example, they came together with local churches to provide a total of 227 lunches for children entitled to free school meals as part of the larger holiday hunger scheme with Achieving for Children. There were also 75 Good Grub Club (GGC) at Home packs organised and packed by the West Windsor Hub and Abri to provide ingredients and recipes to feed families of the children. Our GGC was set up to tackle holiday hunger and social isolation – read more about it here.
The Food Network group is currently made up of (but not limited to): West Windsor Hub, Windsor Foodshare, The Baby Bank, Driven Forward, Community Fridge RBWM and Abri.
The Physical Environment group
The Physical Environment group looks at the environmental aspects of Clewer and Dedworth.
For example, where areas can be made more biodiverse, encouraging growing and learning around waste through workshops and events. If you haven’t seen the Sawyers Close community orchard, go and take a look! If you are passionate about where you live and the environment, please come and join us.
Current attendees are: Green Earth Plan, Dedworth Library, Plastic Free Windsor, RBWM, members of the community and Abri.
Young Persons group
There is also a Young Persons group that was successful for funding to run the Turn it Around project. This provided free workshops and activities in schools and the community for young people. The activities included a leadership programme, anxiety workshops and a mural workshop to compliment the new Community Orchard.
This group is currently attended by 4motion, Youth Engagement Services, Green Earth Plan, Family Friends RBWM and Abri. They will be meeting again from September to discuss funding to be able to provide further free activity programmes where funding allows.
