Listening to residents and acting on what you tell us is at the heart of how we work at Abri. A recent project at Boyd Court, in Bracknell, is a great example of how resident feedback is helping to shape real improvements.
We recently held a feedback event at Boyd Court, which was attended by more than 30 residents. It was an opportunity for people to tell us what they value about their estate, what could be improved, and what matters most to them.
What residents told us
From the feedback shared on the day, several clear priorities emerged:
- security gates
- parking
- bin areas
- the playground
Residents also spoke in detail about their experiences of the security gates, including concerns about noise and how they were working.
What we’re doing
We’ve begun putting action plans in place, with a commitment to delivering improvements over the next two years. Throughout this time, we’ll continue to check in with residents so they can help shape decisions as plans develop.
Security gates were identified as a key early priority. After listening to residents, we’re now testing a solution at Boyd Court which includes:
- re‑installing gates and posts with rubber stops to reduce slamming and vibration
- improving the gate closing mechanism
- relocating the emergency break glass unit away from the push to release control
The six-week trial is designed to balance safety with comfort, helping to reduce noise while maintaining security.
What happens next?
Once testing’s complete, we’ll review the results and update residents on the next steps. If the solution proves successful, changes will be rolled out more widely across the estate.
This is just a great example of how resident feedback is shaping our priorities and helping us focus on the improvements that matter most. By listening, involving residents, and keeping them informed, we’re working together to create places people are proud to call home.
