We support community fridges, where local businesses and residents donate surplus food to be accessed by those in need, providing additional food for families and reducing food waste. A community group in Salisbury were delivering this support in their community, regularly helping 40 households a week. The shed that housed the fridge was in disrepair. Through the social value procurement fund Travis Perkins supplied all the wood required to build a new cupboard.
Will, Old Sarum and Community Fridge, said: “The donation of timber has made a huge difference. Being a very small and young community project, securing funding and volunteers is always a struggle, but the whole process from start to finish was smooth and greatly appreciated. The generosity extended to us has made a real difference in getting this project off the ground.”
