Moving into her new home in January 2026 has transformed the life of Abigail* and her two children.
After experiencing domestic abuse and feeling unsupported in her previous home, Abigail needed somewhere her family could feel safe and settled, and one which came with a strong sense of community.

Abri’s support started before Abigail had to ask for it. Soon after she moved in, our Community Safety team got in touch to check whether she needed any extra security or support in her home. It was a proactive step that helped ease some of the worry that can come with starting again after a frightening time.
That early contact showed Abigail that someone was thinking about her family’s safety, listening to what they might need, and ready to help if asked. She said that knowing we were looking out for her and making sure she had everything she needed made her feel secure.
Abigail’s new home is quiet, her neighbours are kind and her family now has the calm, private space they need to thrive. Her children now have a home where they can play, learn and simply be children. For Abigail, it means being able to breathe a little easier.
Abigail’s story shows how important safe homes and early support can be. By checking in, listening and asking the right questions, we helped Abigail and her family feel safer at home and more confident about their future.
