The supply of quality, affordable homes across the south of England has never been more important. We're pleased to have delivered 1,018 new homes in the last year
The 1,018 homes built in 2022/23 include 405 for affordable and social rent, 370 shared ownership properties providing customers affordable ways to get on the housing ladder, and 243 for open market sale. 80 of the homes built were by our in-house construction team.
The shared ownership properties provide customers with an affordable way to achieve home ownership, and profits, including those from open market sale, are reinvested back into the business to improve our existing homes and services, invest in our communities and continue to build more affordable housing. We completed on 328 new home sales and helped 621 customers either buy their new home or increase a share of their home with shared ownership.
We're set to expand on this performance with a further 1,000 new homes identified for the upcoming 2023/24 pipeline.
Stephen Lodge, our Executive Director Development and Strategic Asset Management said:
“At Abri we believe everyone has the right to a good quality, warm and sustainable home that is affordable. These additional 1,018 homes make this a reality for even more customers at a time when access to affordable and quality homes is more important than ever. Thank you to all our colleagues and partners for making this happen. Delivering more than 1,000 homes is a significant achievement for Abri. It highlights our ability to deliver quality homes at scale and puts us in a strong position reach our overall target of 10,000 new homes by 2030.”
We're proud to be a strategic partner with Homes England. This collaboration has already supported the delivery of 258 completed homes with another 1,200 under contract. We're investing £2.6bn into the delivery of new homes by 2030 as it continues to look for additional opportunities across the south of England, whether land led, regeneration, joint ventures or through its own inhouse construction team.
We believe partnership working is key to delivering quality homes at the scale in which they’re needed. We're a lead partner of the Wayfarer Partnership, a consortium of 19 housing associations and local authorities. The consortium helped to deliver a further 377 homes in the 2022/23 financial year across the south of England.
Through its joint venture partnerships we're helping to deliver nearly 1,400 new homes, including 619 homes at Woodgate in Pease Pottage and 139 homes at Manorwood in West Horsley with Thakeham. At Sayers Meadow in Mid Sussex another 120 homes are being built with Vistry and another 500 homes are being built in Weymouth with Lovell.
