We've exchanged contracts with Countryside Properties to provide 109 affordable, sustainable homes at the Garlick’s Arch development near Guildford.
The deal is subject to the proposed development receiving planning permission which is currently being reviewed by Guildford Borough Council.
Approval on the planning permission will allow us to provide 62 affordable homes for rent and 47 available to buy through shared ownership. To create a socially and environmentally sustainable community, the new homes also propose to be built using energy-efficient design with sustainable features such as solar panels and electric car charging points.
Sam Stone, Associate Director of Land and Planning at Abri said: “We’re looking forward to working with Countryside Properties to deliver affordable homes where they’re needed. House prices in Guildford are considerably higher than the national average and by making 50% of the homes affordable we hope to increase the number of quality homes and improve home ownership for more people in the area.
“As an organisation, we’re also committed to playing our part in tackling climate change. We’re excited to bring innovative and sustainable features to the development to increase energy efficiency for homeowners as well as protect the environment by reducing the community’s carbon footprint.”
Andy Barron, Land and Planning Director at Countryside Properties said: “Countryside Properties is looking forward to working in partnership with Abri, which will deliver high quality homes on this allocated Surrey housing site.”
The new homes plan to feature a mix of one, two, three and four-bedroom homes to meet local need as well as some apartments. In addition to the provision of affordable homes, the proposals for Garlick’s Arch include open public space at the centre of the development and protection of the existing ancient woodland.
