Our Abri Work Academy has been called “first class” by care provider Social Care in Action.
Abri Work Academies provide practical skills for those looking for new work by connecting them with employers to find out about opportunities in their area.
The project includes:
- A series of workshops
- One-to-one support
- Interview practice
- Time with the employer and organisation
- A guaranteed job interview with live vacancies
- An opportunity to do a certified short course (funded by us)
We’ve recently run an AWA with Social Care in Action (SCiA), where two people have secured roles with them. And they’ve been singing our praises to their partners.
Ricky Rossiter, Director of Integrated Services at SCiA, said: “What an amazing program you and your team have run for us. From the first contact with you, pre-planning and through to actual delivery, Abri has been first class.
“As a Care provider, I have spent many days at recruitment fayres with very, very little success. I have worked with local authorities to raise awareness of social care recruitment needs all to little real impact, and when our SCiA CEO first suggested the idea of an Abri Work Academy I was a little sceptical.
“After a short time of working with yourself, I knew that individuals would be well-prepped, keen and excited due to the prep work you had already done.
“During the last program, two staff were keen to join SCiA and we were excited to take them on.
“Candidate one – was a non-driver, not local but, WOW, did he deliver. This guy now catches a train to the city every day, jumps on a Voi Scoter and zips around the city working with our clients. He is never late, delivers high-quality person-centred care and is a credit to the scheme.
“Candidate two – now works in Winchester with a customer who has very complex needs (learning disability and challenging behaviour). The candidate is so person-centred and even though he has a very busy personal life, when he is with his customers there is nothing more important.
“I have been screaming from the rooftops about the Abri program to many of our commissioning partners in the city to make sure they understand there is a better way to get people into work, and that’s the Abri way.
“I wish we could run this scheme on a monthly basis.”
