We've opened applications for our Community Fund to support local organisations and projects.
The Community Fund, which has awarded over £40,000 since April 2021, is part of Abri’s commitment to supporting and investing in communities, making them better places to live.
Organisations have until 9 February 2022 to apply. Applications will be considered by Abri’s Thriving Communities panel, made up of customers and those living in its communities.
“We’ve awarded over £40,000 from our Community Fund to organisations and groups across all our communities so far, and we’re proud of the difference this has made. Our Community Fund is one way we can help drive change, transform our communities and provide opportunities. It’s what our Community Strategy and five-year £15m investment is all about – empowering communities, improving health and wellbeing, and providing employment opportunities. We’re looking forward to reading about the inspiring work those in our community are doing and supporting even more people,” said Cita Jagot, Communities & Involvement Manager at Abri.
Successful applications so far this year include:
- Solent Sports FC to provide free access to a youth football club in Southampton.
- Marvels & Meltdowns to improve a charity building and enable additional activities to be delivered in Gosport.
- Baby Necessities who provide children’s car seats and travel systems to isolated families in south Hampshire.
- The Friends of Hardway to support their summer programme for families in Gosport.
- Driven Forward to support the ongoing sustainment of the community fridge in Clewer and Dedworth, and to help families and adults who are financially struggling to provide food for their families and the community.
- St Peters Community Centre, in Yeovil, to support their food pantry and set up toddler activity sessions.
- Buzz Action Foundation, to provide youth club activities at the Bowman Centre in Amesbury, giving young, socially isolated people alternative opportunities for socialising and discharging physical energy.
Abri’s Community Fund opens for applications three times a year, and organisations can apply for up to £3,000 to support a project in one of Abri’s communities. This application window opened on 1 December 2021 and closes on 9 February 2022. Application forms are available on the website here.
