Abri, one of the south of England’s largest housing providers, has opened applications for its Community Fund to support local organisations and projects.
The Community Fund, which awarded over £65,000 between April 2021 and March 2022, is part of Abri’s commitment to supporting and investing in communities, especially at a time when it’s really needed.
Organisations have until 14 August 2022 to apply. Applications will be considered by Abri’s Thriving Communities panel, made up of customers and those living in its communities.
“Our Community Fund is here to help where it’s needed most, and to provide opportunities in our communities. The cost of living crisis has seen us receive even more applications from organisations offering essential support, such as kitchen essentials, food banks, free activities for young people, and employability skills. We want to help even more people this year, that’s why we have £90,000 of funding available (for April 2022-March 2023),” said Cita Jagot, Communities & Involvement Manager at Abri.
Successful applications have included:
- The Baby Bank in Windsor for their sleeping and playing safely project, helping families facing financial difficulties.
- The Cowshed, near Reading for Noahs Boxes – a kitchen essentials kit of 35+ items to support those going into their own accommodation.
- The Friendly Food Club in Bournemouth for their ‘meet, cook and eat’ cookery workshops.
- Level Up Gosport to support young people in Gosport learn employability skills through community volunteering.
- Driven Forward to support the ongoing sustainment of the community fridge in Clewer and Dedworth, and to help families and adults who are financially struggling to provide food for their families and the community.
- St Peters Community Centre, in Yeovil, to support their food pantry and set up toddler activity sessions.
Abri’s Community Fund opens for applications four times a year, and organisations can apply for up to £3,000 to support a project in one of Abri’s communities. This application window is open for 6 weeks from 1 July 2022 to 14 August 2022. Application forms are available here. We would recommend you submit your application as early as possible along with all the supporting documents.
