The Abri way is, shaping futures, building homes, creating communities, and empowering lives. For me, working here means being a part of the culture, belonging with ambitious and talented people in a diverse sector.
It’s refreshing to know that working nine to five is no longer the only way to make a living. Do you know what the best part about working here is? Let me tell you… it’s being empowered to work flexibly, wherever I want; helping me and my colleagues to strike a better work-life blend. This way of working really gives me (and I know I’m not alone with this) the autonomy to work from our offices, communities, and even the comfort of my own home.
We are masters of our own destiny
With this in mind, we recently landed ourselves on the UK’s 100 Best Large Companies to Work For, securing spot 73 and were named fourth on the 25 Best Housing Associations to Work for lists. Our truly remarkable achievements weren’t accomplished in a day’s work but it’s certainly a credit to our people. The inspirational commitment and dedication of the people at Abri got us where we are today, our whole workforce play a key role in shaping the future of the workplace.
We have a bright future ahead of us at Abri, and we know that every day won’t be the same - but that’s what keeps things interesting. Consistency is key, one thing that the organisation seems passionate about keeping the same is, ensuring that every voice is heard, and every contribution is valued. This way, where we work truly becomes a great place to be, for everyone.
Building a happy and resilient workforce
What does success look like in our sector? A good place to start is trying to understand what colleagues from all areas of the business think – a people focussed approach to drive change will be helpful in making our workplace inclusive. Experts like Best Companies and Investor in People are a great support when it comes to providing sector insight and feedback from colleagues, sharing best practices on things like workplace inclusion, personal development, and health and wellbeing.
By now we all know that knowledge is power and to grow as an organisation it’s good to accept a challenge once in a while. Colleagues were recently introduced to a virtual Learning Lounge to encourage discussions on colleague wellbeing; providing a platform for teachings on how to become more mindful in our daily routines.
A new colleague engagement platform was also launched this year; combining traditional training with wellbeing aspects, as well as space for colleagues to set and check-in with their objectives. What’s good about this platform is that it aims to bridge knowledge gaps and enable greater understanding of career paths in our sector.
Our future is in our own hands
Making Abri a great place to work isn’t a tick box exercise. When it comes to the way that we work, we know that the ‘one size fits all’ approach isn’t effective. No, we don’t have all the answers, but to continue our growth and success we should keep an open mind by working flexibly and supporting our people to develop, thrive and deliver for our customers.
