We are proud to share that we have recently provided £1,500 in funding to Maggie’s, a UK-wide charity which offers bespoke support to cancer patients and their families.
The money has been awarded from our Community Grant funding, which is given to various organisations across the south of England which have local interest at their core. We’re delighted that this funding will support Maggie’s to open their newest centre on the grounds of University Hospital Southampton.
The charity was setup in 1996 to provide a new type of cancer support, one which is friendly, calm and comforting. All of the Maggie’s Centres across the country have a unique design and the Southampton centre will honour the nearby New Forest with a tranquil, woodland theme.
Maggie’s provide non-clinical support and stress management, plus emotional assistance, to anyone affected by cancer. Their Southampton home opens on Monday 26 October. On awarding this funding, Community Development Officer, Nicole Abela, said:
“I am so proud that we have been able to support Maggie’s with their new centre. The support they offer to those with cancer and their families is so important, during these difficult times it can feel even more lonely, but Maggie’s will be there to provide a safe calming space to help people feel settled and at ease.”
