An event to help families who have had a trying year to have an extra special Christmas has been a success.
Abri partnered with Independent Cllr Madhuri Bedi, Slough Borough Council, and Osbornes for the Christmas Give and Gift event, a community present fair to help families in Foxborough, Langley.
Families were able to collect nearly new or unused toys, books, games, puzzles or gift sets donated by the community to ensure everyone received a gift this year.
Over 40 families collected items. And over 20 families who couldn’t make the event due to isolating or other commitments, had items packed and delivered to them.
Those families who were able to attend the event also gave a foodbank donation or a monetary value that went towards Langley Mencap, who are putting the money towards supporting a family in need of housing.
A huge thanks for all the lovely new, or newly used, donations we received from the local community, organisations/businesses, mosques, schools, staff and most importantly the amazing toys from Slough Salvation Army.
Here’s what the families had to say about the event:
“Well done to everyone involved, putting smiles on people’s faces and making children happy who cannot make it.”
“Picked up some great gifts for the children. The children picked up a gift for their grandparents too. They are very happy, and I am so grateful for your kindness! Happy Christmas and thank you so much.”
“Thank you for your good heart, at least I got special things for the twins this Christmas and family. God Bless you.”
“It was a really nice thing for you all to have done for the kids, they will love their presents. Thank you!”
“Thank you Shabana, we really enjoyed the Christmas Give and Gift event and the present we picked up.”
“It was lovely to see you Shabana and thank you for arranging the event and the gifts!”
“It has been lovely to come down and pick up gifts for my family. It has been a real hard year, so this is amazing, thank you so much.”
“Just want to say residents of Langley are happy, but now our children are more happy because of your effort to distribute Christmas gifts among them. This is the true happiness when we see smile on their faces. Well done and thank you.”
“Thank you so much for the amazing gifts my children received from you all. Cathy delivered them and we are overwhelmed with them. You have definitely cheered up my poorly children. Merry Christmas to you all.”
“How can I thank you. Thank you so much for the gifts today.”
