We think people living in communities have the knowledge, insight, and expertise to know what their community needs. That's why we're working with Hampshire Constabulary and MutualGain to work with local people to help make communities safer.
The project started with a World Cafe Event at the beginning of the year. Which saw communities come together and start a conversation about how to create a safer community.
Hampshire Constabulary secured funding from the Home Office who has contributed £15,000 to this fantastic project. We've also topped up the project with a further £1k and are asking other businesses to think about donating too.
This investment will be spread across five areas in Hampshire and aims to make communities safer and better places to live.
While COVID-19 saw the project put on hold briefly, it's now moving forward in two areas, Bridgemary in Gosport and Swaythling in Southampton.
In Bridgemary, we are now inviting local groups to bid for £4k of funding to run a project that will help improve life in their community. These projects will be put to the vote and chosen by the people of the community in early 2021.
All funding ideas are welcome and our Community team here is on hand to mentor those who wish to apply for funding through the process.
If you've got an idea which will make your community a safer place to live, we want to hear from you.
