Community Action Days Making a Difference Across Our Geography
Our latest round of Community Action Days have brought customers and staff together to make lasting change.
The Community Action days, which took place across six communities, are an opportunity to speak to customers face-to-face and engage with them on a broad range of subjects. Colleagues from across our work collaboratively to help customers, continuing to work towards our goal of creating communities where people can thrive.
Community Action Days always take place in the heart of our communities. The latest were staged in Sawyers Close (Windsor), Clivia Close (Littlemoor), Farmside Gardens (Portsmouth), Carlton Road North (Weymouth), Henson Park Road (Chard), and Marl Close (Westfield) and saw 96 customers engage.
The customer engagements were dynamic and varied, some of the latest dates involved:
- Repairs works: 29 were carried out across the six communities, including an electrical repair and a gate fixture. A further eight repairs were booked in for the future.
- Police Force engagement: 10 customers spoke with the local police force about their area and each had their bikes “marked” to prevent theft.
- Housing queries: Customers were able to raise issues concerning them, some of which could be resolved on the same day. Advice was given on topics such as damp and mould, plants in communal spaces, and potential downsizing.
- Waste Disposal & Litter Picking: Grounds teams were able to fill six whole flatbed trucks with unwanted items, relieving a stress for residents who may have been otherwise unable to get rid of these items. Elsewhere, litter picking took place to tidy up communal spaces.
- Energy Saving: Five outstanding retrofit appointments were completed as part of the low carbon project, work that will save customers energy, and therefore money.
Our Community Investment team ensure that each day is as useful as possible for the customers in attendance by theming them, targeting the most timely issues. The next set of Community Action Days will therefore look at preparing for winter, with a focus on damp and mould.
The team look forward to welcoming residents on the following dates:

It really is a cross-team effort and means we can support customers on a broad range of issues; from maintenance to housing, environmental improvements to cost of living support, employment support and everything in between. This demonstrates our continued commitment to creating thriving communities.
