Apprenticeships help people to develop the skills and knowledge for a rewarding career. And they provide organisations like ours with a really talented workforce that’s equipped with future ready skills. They can give people degree level qualifications, or even a fully accredited degree qualification, all while earning a wage. And they can help people change or develop within their careers too – apprenticeships aren’t just for school leavers.
We think they’re pretty amazing. But rather than tell you ourselves, we thought we’d let our apprentices do the talking.
George Cooper is an apprentice Electrician
Here’s what he had to say…
“I'm an apprentice Electrician. I chose to do an apprenticeship as you get better practical hands-on experience by overcoming day to day issues. You also gain industry qualifications whilst being paid.”
“My apprenticeship at Abri has been demanding but very rewarding. I picked Abri as they are a big company who can provide support and backing throughout the apprenticeship.
“The thing I love most is being able to progress, so I'm able to do more and more complicated parts of the job every week. This is great for my career development as it’s developing my skills and giving me the knowledge to gain my qualifications. And no two days are the same. There isn't a typical day as an apprentice Electrician. Every day has new challenges, and each building site is very different.
“In terms of my future career plans, once I’ve completed my apprenticeship there are many opportunities to progress further. One day I might go on to run my own company.
“If you’re thinking of doing an apprenticeship, my advice would be to go ahead and do it. There's no better way to learn then being out doing it, you get paid at the same time and come out qualified and debt free.”
