People in Whitehill & Bordon will have access to more employment opportunities and support when a new hub opens on Thursday 5 May.
The Employment and Opportunities Hub is run by Abri, one of the south of England’s largest housing providers, with support from the Department for Work and Pensions, East Hampshire District Council, and Whitehill & Bordon Community Trust.
It will be open every Thursday, 10.30am-12.30pm in Building 94, Bordon Enterprise Park, Budds Lane, GU35 0FJ.
A collection of advisors from the organisations will be on hand to help with searching and applying for jobs, updating or creating CVs, cover letters, and lots more. Computers and tablets will be available for people to use to help find and apply for jobs, as well as connecting people with groups and activities happening in the area.
There will be free opportunities to:
- Meet local employers
- Attend Abri Work Academies
- Complete training
- Experience Abri’s World of Wellbeing.
Abri’s tenancy sustainment, welfare benefits, income support and community development teams will also be on hand for pre-booked appointments.
Chris Adams, Employment and Training Manager at Abri, said: “We’re creating thriving communities and empowering lives with our £15m five-year investment, making sure we’re driving change where it’s needed most. So, we’re pleased to be opening our fifth employment and opportunity hub, where we can help people in Whitehill & Bordon into employment, secure a pay rise or better work conditions, take the next step on their career ladder, start their own business, or find training to help build their skills and confidence.
“Not everyone is born with the same opportunities. But we can help level the playing field. We believe it doesn’t matter where you’re from, it’s about where you’re going, and we’ve got a whole team to help people get there. We know that securing training opportunities or sustained employment is more than just skills and experience though. We want to create a community, working with our partners and other agencies, to not only offer support but bring residents together. That’s why there’ll be opportunities from our partner organisations too.”
