Abri is pleased to announce that it is collaborating with Wessex Water in Somerset to support Abri’s customers to tackle the cost of living and the climate crisis through a water saving scheme that will benefit both customers and the environment.
Working together, Abri and Wessex Water will be offering customers the opportunity to book a free Water Efficiency Home Check visit that will help them to better understand how they use water at home.
Delivered by Wessex Water, the Home Check visits include the installation of free water saving devices that could save customers an average of 70 litres of water a day and reduce the cost of their household water and energy bills.

Reducing household water usage will aid in the reduction of wastewater flows into sewers and water recycling centres, therefore reducing the amount of treated wastewater being released into surrounding rivers, and wetlands in Somerset. This will minimise the nutrient quantity in watercourses to better protect the natural habitats on customers’ doorsteps. A fifth of energy use in the home is connected to hot water usage, so customers can see reductions on energy as well as water bills.
Abri is committed to identifying ways that bring economic benefit to growing communities as part of a greener economy. At a time when cost-of-living is adding pressure to household finances; managing water at home in a more sustainable way is fundamental.
Bethan Gray, Customer Engagement Coordinator at Wessex Water commented:
“We are delighted to be partnering with Abri and offering our free Home Check service to their householders. Through our programme so far we have visited over 4,000 properties in our region, providing water saving advice, and fitting devices such as eco shower heads. We have found and repaired nearly 1,000 leaks on customers’ taps and toilets, saving up to 400 litres a day for each leak fixed. We are excited to promote the service to Abri customers.”
Available by appointment, the free Water Efficiency Home Check visits are now being offered to Abri customers from January 2024.
