Gary Orr, Chief Executive of Abri and Co-Chair of the NDG (that convenes the country's largest developing housing associations) said:
Today’s announcement represents a once in a generation opportunity for affordable housing and an overwhelming vote of confidence in the sector. Housing is the foundation for strong, thriving communities, and this £39bn investment, together with the ten-year rent settlement, provides the certainty and stability needed to plan for the future. For Abri, which has both the appetite and capacity to deliver more homes, it means we can move forward with confidence to deliver at least 10,000 homes by 2030, while continuing to invest in our existing homes to ensure they remain safe, well-maintained and fit for the future. This level of support will be transformational - both for our customers and for the sector as we work with the government to meet the country’s housing needs.
