A recent project involved extensive renewal and safety improvements to the rear garden of a residential property in Yeovil. The work included replacing a failing supporting wall, constructing new steps to navigate a height difference of approximately 1500mm, stabilising a banking area, and installing a new safety barrier and handrails. This was to ensure a safe solution for the customers’ three young children. The site presented several challenges, including limited access, previous poor-quality repairs, and the presence of an existing brick shed that had to be worked around carefully.
The customer had historically been dissatisfied due to previous works, and the garden layout included uneven and unsafe steps and deteriorated structures that required full replacement. A site meeting was held to agree the scope, discuss constraints, and ensure a clear understanding of the expected outcomes.
The Minor Works team carried out:
- Full replacement of the rear supporting wall
- Construction of new steps from the patio to the upper garden level
- Installation of a new double handrail and safety barrier
- Additional minor works around the rear and side of the property
Despite harsh garden conditions, tight working spaces and difficult access, the team delivered a high-quality finish throughout.
The customer expressed strong admiration for the standard of workmanship and the professionalism shown throughout the project. Feedback highlighted:
- Exceptional quality of the new wall and steps
- Careful and safe installation of handrails and the barrier system
- Great communication and customer care
- A significant improvement in the customer’s perception of the organisation
The project not only resolved long-standing issues but restored customer confidence.
