Did you know we ask our suppliers to ‘give something back’ by way of a social value return? It’s how we use our buying power to generate additional support for our customers and communities.
So when we buy things, we make sure that organisation commits to giving back to our communities through social value, either through a monetary donation or in kind. This can be materials, funding, equipment, employment opportunities or volunteering hours.
We’re calling it social value procurement funding. And we have a target to achieve £2.5million funding through this route by 2025.
Sounds great, but not sure what social value is?
Social value helps us to measure and quantify the social impact of our work on customer’s lives where we can’t usually measure this in monetary terms.
As well as asking our suppliers to give something back through social value return, we also measure how much we generate in value from the projects and activities that we run.
