Abri Youth Bursaries offer funding opportunities for young people living in Abri homes who want to access new skills, activities, groups, training or development opportunities.
If you are aged 8 to 18, you can apply for a bursary of up to £300 towards an activity, course, club, training opportunity or equipment that will support your development.
The bursary aims to remove financial barriers and create opportunities for young people to learn, grow and achieve their goals.
Funding can be used for:
- Club and membership fees
- Sports and physical activities
- Arts, music and creative activities
- Training courses and qualifications
- Coaching or tuition
- Equipment needed to participate in an activity or opportunity
The bursaries are available in two pathways:
This pathway helps younger residents access positive activities, develop confidence and build stronger connections within their communities.
Funding may support:

This pathway supports older young residents to develop skills, build independence and access volunteering, training and employment opportunities.
Funding may support:
- Training courses
- Qualifications
- Equipment needed for progression
- Licences and employment-related costs
How to complete this form
Applications should be completed by a parent, guardian or supporting adult (for example, a youth worker, teacher, social worker or support worker).

Before you apply
Please note:
- Funding is not guaranteed.
- Awards may be less than the amount requested.
- Only one application can be submitted per young person.
- We cannot fund activities that have already taken place.
- We cannot fund debt repayment.
- Travel costs will only be considered where they form part of an educational, sporting or development opportunity.
- If successful, payments will normally be made directly to the organisation, supplier, club or training provider.
Abri reserves the right to decline applications that do not meet the eligibility criteria or funding objectives.
Important Information
If successful, your bursary will normally be paid directly to the organisation, supplier, club or training provider delivering the activity or service.
We recommend contacting the organisation before applying to let them know we may need to contact them for additional information if your application is successful.
If we are unable to obtain the information needed to process payment, we may not be able to proceed with the award.
Benefits and Financial Support
In some circumstances, receiving external funding may affect certain benefits.
If you receive Universal Credit or other income-related benefits, please check with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) before applying.

What happens next?
We will let you know when we have received your application and will share with you the date that it will be considered. We may also need to contact the parent/adult supporter, or the supplier organisation you have named in the application to request more information. In some cases we may ask for a supporting statement from the parent/adult supporter.
Your application will then be considered by the Residents' Panel. Following the Panel’s consideration, we will contact you to let you know the outcome of your application.
