What you've told us
Our customer survey highlighted ongoing concerns around litter and fly tipping within the Littlemoor community on the roads, driveways and gardens. We’ve previously supported with skip days working alongside our colleagues from different teams to remove the fly tipping from the area, but will be looking to create a wider response going forward as this continues to be an issue for the community.
Our wider feedback has suggested that there is an improvement in levels of crime and anti-social behaviour (ASB) in the Littlemoor area, although there continues to be an increase in use of the Littlemoor foodbank, demonstrating the ongoing impact of Cost of Living, we’ll look to work alongside the foodbank and the Nest to help our customers access affordable food.
Looking ahead, we’re aware there are changes coming up for the Top Club, so we’ll be looking to support delivery of community opportunities with a focus on use of green space and activities for children and young people to support this transition. Furthermore, we’ll be focusing on increasing support and opportunities within the Bincombe area as this community continues to grow and will deliver a series of community engagement events over the coming months, including workshops with Dorset Wildlife.
Your priorities
- Supporting people into better employment opportunities, increasing skills levels and connecting young people to opportunities by identifying and promoting existing support and advice services available.
- Build on existing network of stakeholders to address/create interventions that support health inequalities and improving health and wellbeing outcomes for customers and the wider community.
- Engaging young people in social activities to prevent anti-social behaviour.
- Supporting and empowering the community to create a positive and safe living environment by using successful engagement strategies to engage customers.
Who is your Community Development Officer?
My name is Sophie and I started working for Abri (legacy Yarlington) back in 2017. I started within the organisation as a Financial Responsibility Officer within our Welfare Benefits and Income team before moving to my role within the Community Investment Team in 2021. I have been working in Somerset but have recently taken on the Littlemoor area across the border in Dorset, and I am enjoying getting to know more about what is happening here. In my spare time I enjoy walking, reading and good food, although I must admit I am not the cook of the household. I have also just started to pick up running again and have found the couch to 5K app a fantastic companion, although it is not as easy as I remember!

You said, we did
You said:
Fly tipping, and the Clivia and Magnolia Close area was looking untidy.
We did:
We organised a Community Action Day and gave the area a good tidy, including collecting four bags of litter from gardens, and communal areas. We filled an eight-yard skip and our bulk waste team took away a van load of rubbish. We’ve also arranged for our horticultural team to spray all the weeds and clean up the communal areas.
What we're working on in Littlemoor
We’re working with teams across the business to support our new customers moving into the Bincombe area. We let them know what support and services they can access and programmes they can get involved with in their local community.
We’re exploring future opportunities for a partnership with Dorset Wildlife Trust to deliver a series of workshops around the Littlemoor area to the importance and value of these green spaces and habitat.

Bincombe Park Development, Littlemoor, Community Action Day - May 2025
We held our first Community Action Day at the new Bincombe Development in Littlemoor. We were supported by local partners the Friendly Food Club with a free food demonstration and giveaway, as well as Read Easy, a local supportive charity. We enjoyed speaking to residents about their experience so far, raising repairs and completing a community litter pick during the event.
Our next Bincombe Community Action Day will be held on Thursday 21 Aug with further details to follow.
