Community steering groups, launching in partnership with Youth Engagement Services, the Community Learning and Skills Service and the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, aim to create great opportunities for all in Clewer and Dedworth.
These groups have been introduced to ensure local residents can lead the way in helping their community to thrive. The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead’s, Councillor Price, said:
“This is such a great opportunity for Clewer and Dedworth residents to have their say, and be listened to, on what we want our community to be like in future years. It’s also a chance to get involved to make sure it happens.
“Let’s work together to create the community we want. Don’t be shy, make your views known and together we can ensure it happens!”
From September 2020 five groups covering physical environment, health and wellbeing, community safety, employment and skills and community empowerment, are launching in Clewer and Dedworth. These themes have been decided following extensive consultation with the community, carried out to help us tailor our investment activity in this area.
The groups will meet regularly throughout the year (most likely on a bi-monthly basis) to discuss projects and initiatives that will directly benefit the local community. Each group will feature residents from the area, representatives from local charities and support services, as well as a councillor. It’s a great opportunity for residents to have their voice heard and help shape activities and opportunities in their community.
“The aim of these new groups is to empower people to get involved in projects and feel confident in sharing their ideas. We want community members to take the lead; we’re simply just here to help with the delivery. By bringing residents together with local support services and councillors we hope to create great conversations that lead to positive outcomes for all.” – Michelle Dawson, Managing Director of Community Services at Abri Group
Meetings will be no longer than an hour in length and will be held digitally via Microsoft Teams. Face-to-face meetings will be considered in line with government updates on social distancing.
