Like most businesses, our community cafés had to close their doors during the lockdowns. But, despite this, they continued to be a well-loved asset in the community and adapted to provide vital support to their communities.
And with restrictions having now eased, we were delighted to welcome 10 customers back inside Round About Café in Mansbridge for the first time last week.
One customer said: “It was lovely to sit in today, I felt very relaxed hearing and joining into conversations again with people. Was a lovely experience.”
Nigel, our Café Supervisor, said: “It’s been a great couple of days being back to having some normality in the café. It’s especially great seeing customers that I haven’t seen since before the pandemic started.”
We had a regular customer who had been visiting us for takeaway come and sit inside, and two customers who had been waiting for tables to be available again, so hadn’t been to the café for 18 months.
We had two people from The Children’s Society hold a meeting. They had been to three other cafes before us, but they were all closed or had no space.
Two people came for takeaway, but chose to eat in when they spotted a table free.
And we were delighted to have two Abri colleagues hold a meeting at the café too!
If you’re in the area, pop in, grab some delicious food and drink and say hi to our colleagues and volunteers.
